El Sobrante Art Guild
"Into the Future with Integrity, Unity, and Service"
The El Sobrante Art Guild is a non-profit organization (501c3) that was started in the late 1960s as an avenue for artists to get together. In 1973 the Guild became involved in promoting the Arts within our local school district. This is done through cash awards that are given at the Annual Student Awards Show for The West Contra Costa Unified School District at the Richmond Art Center. This coming year will be our 36th year of supporting our local teachers and helping aspiring young artists to succeed in the medium of their choice. Each of the last few years, we have been able to award over $2,000 annually which is divided between student prizes and classroom materials.
Our largest fund-raiser of the year is the Christmas Shop where artisan members sell their hand-made arts and crafts during November and December. Ten percent of all sales at the Christmas Shop are donated for this program. At our Christmas Shop we also sell donation tickets. These tickets are placed in a drawing for prizes that have been donated by the Art Guild members, Community Members and Businesses to support the program.
